The Department of Computing is responsible for the management
of it's own IT resources within the College.
This includes servers, workstations, printers and associated
hardware and software in the Department's labs and buildings.
Our servers provide many important services to the Department,
one of the most critical being the departmental database.
They also operate an internal mailing-list system and
manage network access to shared resources, such as
printers and networked disk-drives.
The Department manages four computer labs, each of which
contains a laser-printer and 20-30 networked PC's running
Windows. The PC's have a selection of software specialised
to meet the academic needs of the Department and also
provide direct access to our servers and the wider Internet.
The Department employs two full-time IT support staff;
one systems administrator and one systems support technician.
