{"id":3025,"date":"2022-04-28T15:06:58","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T15:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=3025"},"modified":"2022-04-28T15:06:58","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T15:06:58","slug":"phd-student-has-paper-accepted-in-chi-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=3025","title":{"rendered":"PHD STUDENT HAS PAPER ACCEPTED IN CHI CONFERENCE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Goldsmiths computing department has recently received wonderful news that PhD student\u00a0<strong>Timea Farakas<\/strong> had her paper submitted and accepted in the CHI Conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pronounced &#8216;kai&#8217;, the CHI conference is a place where researchers and practitioners gather from across the world to discuss the latest in interactive technology and is\u00a0generally considered the most prestigious in the field of human-computer interaction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can watch the full interview where Timea discusses her research below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MTQR2d2fnaw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Timea is in her fourth year of her PhD programme and is enrolled on the IGI Programme Intelligent Games and Game Intelligence (<em>IGGI<\/em>) where students from partnering universities can study, learn and interact with each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Timea&#8217;s research focusses on player experience and how board game players interact with technologies implemented on these board games. Examples of these type of board games are the ones on apps. Timea&#8217;s accepted paper tries to understand players to create more interactive design forms. The paper is titled<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>  <em>&#8220;The Effects of a Soundtrack on Board Game Player Experience&#8221;. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI \u201922), April 29- May 5, 2022, New Orleans, LA, USA&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Timea&#8217;s unique study also includes research conducted during lockdown which yielded unique results.
