Early Virtual Reality and Internet were combining with house music, neo-psychedelia and cyberpunk fiction to produce a cultural movement that would herald the new hyper-connected world.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/interactdigitalarts.uk\/cyberculture\">Cyberculture: The Beginning of the Modern World<\/a> is a exhibition of material from this era that explores this brave new world from the perspective of those who were there.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday 17 June, all-day digital arts event\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/interactdigitalarts.uk\/diary\/2017\/06\/phorward\">Phorward<\/a>\u00a0includes talks from\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/latham-mutator.com\">William Latham<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; freaky fractals artist turned Goldsmiths professor &#8211; and internet pioneer<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ivan_Pope\">Ivan Pope<\/a><\/strong>, who created <em>World Wide Web Newsletter<\/em>\u00a0at Goldsmiths&#8217; Computer Centre in 1993.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the day features films, video games, VR and performances, plus a set by\u00a0experimental electronic music producers &amp; club promoters Higher Intelligence Agency.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mxlJjk_B1a0?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/interactdigitalarts.uk\/cyberculture\">Info about Phorward: Adventures in Cyberland<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=A1zuT5WRhDA\">Video: A Short History of Acid House<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Computer scientists at Goldsmiths feature\u00a0in a Leicester festival celebrating the pioneers of acid house, techno and early internet cultures.
