{"id":2224,"date":"2016-10-19T09:17:12","date_gmt":"2016-10-19T09:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=2224"},"modified":"2016-11-09T16:51:36","modified_gmt":"2016-11-09T16:51:36","slug":"computational-arts-graduate-wins-futurefest-art-prize-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=2224","title":{"rendered":"Computational Arts graduate wins FutureFest Art Prize 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/180790471?color=ffffff&amp;title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ulla Nolden, graduate of Goldsmiths&#8217; MA\/MFA Computational Arts, has been announced as one of four winners\u00a0of the 2016 FutureFest Art Prize, run by\u00a0the UK innovation foundation Nesta.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following an open call for entries, twelve shortlisted artists were selected from over 270 entries responding to four themes of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.futurefest.org\/\">FutureFest<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Love, Play, Work and Thrive.\u00a0Works were showcased at FutureFest in London on 17-18 September 2016. Four winners were selected and announced at the event, following a live audience vote.<\/p>\n<p>Winning the &#8216;Play&#8217; category,\u00a0Ulla Nolden\u2019s <em>Pure Movement 3, environment 1.2<\/em> maps the behaviour of swarms through intricate algorithms, inspired by an interest in the balance between simplicity and complexity in insect swarms.<\/p>\n<p>The four winners each receive a \u00a3500 cash prize. In addition, their work will be launched and promoted on Sedition to an international audience of art collectors and digital enthusiasts.
