{"id":1856,"date":"2015-11-19T17:51:17","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T17:51:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=1856"},"modified":"2015-11-23T09:59:05","modified_gmt":"2015-11-23T09:59:05","slug":"new-audiovisual-performance-app-developed-by-goldsmiths-researcher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=1856","title":{"rendered":"New audiovisual performance app developed by Goldsmiths researcher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/144976072\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Goldsmiths researcher Nuno Correia has developed <em>AudioVisual Zones<\/em>, a new iPad app for audiovisual performance which will be available at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/uk\/itunes\/charts\/free-apps\/\">App Store<\/a> soon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nunocorreia.com\/portfolio\/avzones\">AVZones<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is open source and work in progress, built with openFrameworks and Maximilian, and part of Goldsmiths&#8217;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/eavi.goldsmithsdigital.com\/projects\/enablingavuis\/\">Enabling Audiovisual User Interfaces<\/a> research project.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s composed of an audio sequencer\/looper with a visualizer. By default, three audiovisual columns or \u201czones\u201d allow for the manipulation of three\u00a0audio loops. Each zone had three\u00a0XY pads for audio manipulation: pitch shift, delay and filter. There are nine\u00a0sounds available per zone. The application is scalable: the number of zones, XY pads and sounds can be modified in the code.<\/p>\n<p>Nuno Correia has performed using\u00a0AVZones in Berlin\u00a0and at London&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=1753\">EAVI XIII<\/a>.\u00a0In a performance, only the iPad is used for audiovisuals; the visuals from the iPad are projected behind the performer, and the sound comes from the iPad as well.<\/p>\n<p>The project is supported by a <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/research\/mariecurieactions\/about-msca\/actions\/if\/index_en.htm\">Marie Curie EU fellowship<\/a>, and hosted by the EAVI research group in\u00a0Goldsmiths\u00a0Computing.\u00a0The code for <em>AVZones<\/em> is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/AVUIs\/AVZones\">GitHub<\/a>, and the app can be sideloaded manually on an iPad using Xcode 7.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nunocorreia.com\/portfolio\/avzones\">About AVZones<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gold.ac.uk\/computing\/studywithus\/\">Study Creative Computing and Music Computing at Goldsmiths<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Goldsmiths researcher Nuno Correia has developed AudioVisual Zones, a new iPad app for audiovisual performance which will be available at the App Store soon.
