{"id":1686,"date":"2015-06-08T09:38:58","date_gmt":"2015-06-08T09:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=1686"},"modified":"2017-04-04T08:33:53","modified_gmt":"2017-04-04T08:33:53","slug":"cafe-oto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.doc.gold.ac.uk\/blog\/?p=1686","title":{"rendered":"Computational Arts student wins funded residency at Cafe Oto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1687\" src=\"http:\/\/old.musicacoustica.cn\/picture\/2011101318153446825.jpg\" alt=\"maxresdefault\" width=\"1905\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Goldsmiths postgraduate\u00a0student\u00a0Mari Ohno\u00a0has recently been chosen for a \u00a0funded residency at Cafe Oto\u00a0organised by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soundandmusic.org\">Sound and Music<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Embedded<\/em> programme places composers into extended relationships with leading national arts organisations.\u00a0Aimed at talented composers and creative artists at an early stage in their career, Embedded is a bespoke programme, providing practical hands-on experience and a range of significant creative opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Mari, a sound artist, composer and sound designer, will spend\u00a018 months in residence at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cafeoto.co.uk\">Caf\u00e9 Oto<\/a>,\u00a0developing creative ideas and practice, as well as producing live events and collaborations.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5q1hJjgj2Y8?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Bio Effector<\/strong>\u00a0 A membrane suspended in a gallery is vibrated like a drum by the sound of visitors&#8217; bloodstreams, which are detected and modulated in real time.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A\u00a0graduate from the MA in Creativity in Music and Sound at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geidai.ac.jp\/english\/\">Tokyo University of the Arts<\/a>, Marie creates\u00a0sound installations and electroacoustic compositions that explore various dimensions of human perception.<\/p>\n<p>Her works have been presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Tokyo Wonder Site, FILE (Brazil) and New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival.\u00a0She has been selected for prestigious competitions including Japan Media Arts Festival, Tokyo Sonic Art Award, the International Composition Competition and Workshop Adelaide (Australia).
